Acupuncture is a regulated profession since more than 25 years in Québec.

It is part of a professional order like 46 other professions in the province of Quebec. The profession has been regulated under the Quebec Order of Acupuncturists since 1995.

All acupunters must obtain a permit from the Order and have studied at the Colleges de Rosemont, the only establishment authorized to train acupuncturists in Quebec. The training to become an acupuncturist lasts 3 years and includes a minimum of 2700 hours of which 2000 hours are specific to acupuncture. The training also includes courses in Western medicine such as anatomy, screening and emergency courses.
